Forty-seven pro-democracy figures were charged with conspiracy to subvert state power for participating in organizing or participating in the primary elections of the pro-democracy "35+".
The original 17 defendants who pleaded not guilty in the case will undergo a pre-trial review today (17th) in the West Kowloon Court (temporarily acting as the High Court), which will be handled by judges Chen Qingwei, Li Yunteng and Chen Zhongheng.
Among them, Lin Jingnan pleaded guilty instead, and a witness statement may be taken. He will formally answer on the first day of the trial, that is, February 6, during which Lin was released on bail.
The 17 defendants who appeared in court today are: Zheng Dahong, Yang Xueying, Peng Zhuoqi, He Qiming, Liu Weicong, Huang Biyun, Shi Delai, He Guilan, Chen Zhiquan, Zou Jiacheng, Lin Zhuoting, Liang Guoxiong, Lin Jingnan, Ke Yaolin, Li Yuxin, Yu Huiming, Wu Zhengheng .
Except for Lin Jingnan, who said today that he would plead guilty instead, the rest of the defendants pleaded not guilty, and the trial is scheduled for February 6.
Lin is the founder of Abu Thai Living Department Store.
