Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, stated that economic cooperation between Iran and Russia comes within the framework of the strategic agreements between the two countries.
IRNA reported that Shamkhani, during his meeting with Assistant to the Russian President Igor Levitin, noted the development of relations between the two countries in various fields, stressing the need to expedite the implementation of joint economic projects within the framework of the agreements concluded between the presidents of the two countries.
Shamkhani also stressed that the complementary role of Iran and Russia in global energy markets is important and necessary, however, the unilateral sanctions imposed on Iran impede the development process and lead to the escalation of regional and global crises.
In turn, Levitin referred to Iran's unique capabilities and advantages in the field of energy and transit, pointing to the agreements reached to develop trade relations using national currencies and bartering goods and taking the necessary mechanisms to bypass the restrictions resulting from these sanctions in the monetary and banking fields.
