Eight people were injured in a shooting during a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day event in Ft. Pierce, Florida, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office told CNN.
The shooting occurred at Ilous Ellis Park on Monday night, public information officer Tonya Woodworth said.
Eight people were shot, one person has critical injuries, he added.
Four other people suffered non-gunshot injuries while trying to escape the area.
At this time, the police have not released any information about the motive or whether they have suspects in custody.
