A newspaper distributor was attacked in a residential building in Ashdod (Israel Police)
A resident of Ashdod was accused this morning (Tuesday) of beating a newspaper dispenser in a residential building in the city.
According to the indictment, he attacked the employee with a knife and chased after him from the newspaper dispenser, while he tried to run away from him.
Police officers who arrived at the scene managed to arrest the accused only after he was neutralized.
An indictment for serious offenses was submitted to the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court.
The incident happened early in the morning, about two weeks ago.
A newspaper distributor came as part of his work to a residential building in the city of Ashdod.
While he was going up in the elevator, the accused was waiting for him on the ground floor, armed with a knife, attacked him and tried to stab him several times.
The employee tried to escape and jumped through the stair railing, while the man continued to chase him and finally hit his car.
In the recording of the call to the police hotline, the brother of the newspaper dealer can be heard asking for urgent help, stating that he too had been stabbed in the leg.
The brother added that he was at the scene and bandaged his brother in order to stop the bleeding.

The investigation and intelligence officer at the Ashdod police said that the incident could have ended with much more serious consequences.
"After the defendant tried to pull the victim into his house, all while holding a knife and wounding him, the victim with great resourcefulness managed to escape from the building towards his car and leave the scene," she described.
According to the indictment, after the incident, the attacking man continued to walk down the street with a knife in his hands, until he met a car driver who also tried to attack him and damaged his car's windshield.
"The quick reaction of the police officers who received the reports and arrived at the scene, managed to locate the accused with the knife in his hand and after using neutralization measures due to his dangerousness, managed to take control of him," said the police officer.
"After compiling the evidence, an indictment was filed against him for serious crimes by the police prosecution unit in Lakish."
