Police forces in the Temple Mount area today (Tuesday) prevented the Jordanian ambassador to Israel, Rasan al-Majali, from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque, through the Lions' Gate - this is what Palestinian media reported.

The sources said that at a certain point a police officer talked to him and told him apologetically that he could enter, but Majeli refused and left the place.
"The ambassador is an important personality, represents the Kingdom of Jordan, and he expected that the entry would go through without too many questions and that there would be no steps that would delay him. He saw it as humiliation and disrespect, and he walked away."

According to the Al-Quds newspaper, "the Jordanian ambassador rejected the demand that he must obtain permission from the Israeli authorities, which he considers an occupying power."
The Israel Police noted that "a short time ago, the director of the Jordanian Waqf together with the Israeli ambassador to Jordan arrived at the Temple Mount without any prior coordination with the police.
