The ruling party speeds up the start of the impeachment trial: it wants to approve the start on the 26th to summon the judges of the Court

2023-01-17T16:16:32.160Z

The extraordinary ones start on the 23rd and they want the commission to start working that week. So they could start asking for evidence.

Once the formal entry into Congress of the call for extraordinary meetings was completed, the ruling party decided to

speed up the start of the treatment

of the impeachment of the members of the Supreme Court.

The Frente de Todos will convene the area commission next week, with the purpose of

declaring the "admissibility" of the process at the first meeting

, and thus open the debate on the complaints against Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz, Ricardo Lorenzetti and Juan Carlos Maqueda.

Until the morning of this Tuesday, the call to the Impeachment Committee, chaired by Carolina Gaillard from Entre Ríos, was not made official.

Official party sources told

Clarín

the intention to make it happen these days, possibly for

Thursday the 26th

.

The decree signed by Alberto Fernández and Juan Manzur enables the extraordinary ones from Monday 23.

After a round of exhibitors, the Frente de Todos will seek to impose its majority in the commission to give "admissibility" to the complaints and in the following meetings advance with the

summonses and requirements for evidence

, which will generate strong discussions as advanced by the opposition deputies, who will try to stop the process.

To gather a quorum in the commission and win that first vote to proceed with the projects, the ruling party must have

perfect attendance

.

Of the 31 members, 16 belong to the Frente de Todos, 14 to Juntos por el Cambio, and Alejandro Topo Rodríguez, of the Federal Interblock, is also a member of the body against impeachment.

A

harsh debate is expected between important deputies

, due to the formation of the commission with high-profile legislators and referents from both the ruling party and the opposition: the block leaders Germán Martínez, Mario Negri and Juan Manuel López, Leopoldo Moreau, José Luis Gioja, Alvaro González, Pablo Tonelli, Vanesa Siley, Rodolfo Tailhade, Omar de Marchi and Graciela Ocaña, among others.

Juan Carlos Maqueda, Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz and Ricardo Lorenzetti, the four Supreme Court judges.

To guarantee the number, the legislative swords of Kirchnerism evaluated the

possibility of replacing deputies from the commission

, a common practice in the Chamber, given the concern generated in part of the bloc by the ambivalent position of Sergio Massa -he remained silent, although the legislators who respond would endorse the treatment- or in the event that someone could not attend for other reasons.

The initial list of exhibitors will be made up of the promoters of the political trials and at that moment one of the strategies of the ruling party will be revealed.

They will be summoned to

substantiate the requests

Eduardo Valdés, Siley, representatives of the American Association of Jurists -he denounced the Court in August of last year-, other leaders such as Senator Juliana Di Tullio y López or Paula Oliveto, of the Civic Coalition, for Elisa Carrió's project against Lorenzetti.

López had anticipated that his space will not withdraw the initiative, although he warned his peers from Together for Change that the Government's strategy would include,

in addition to trying to divide the opposition

,

strengthening the internal opposition among the courtiers

and then promoting an eventual negotiation with Lorenzetti.

If the Frente de Todos manages to approve the "admissibility" of the process, the debate will continue

throughout the summer with one or two meetings per week

.

According to the regulations of the commission, the deputies may request reports, documents, files and other measures of evidence, take statements from witnesses and summon the accused.

After the debate, the ruling party could issue an opinion, although it would then have to obtain two-thirds of the votes in the venue, something

unattainable in the current scenario

in which it is difficult for it to gather a simple majority to open the sessions.
