Chen Jie, Inspector of the Container Cargo Inspection Team of the Port and Maritime Division, explained the circumstances of the case. According to the risk assessment and data analysis, the customs officers recently locked a seaborne and loaded container from Canada. There are a total of 57 boxes of materials. The customs officer inspected the container at the Kwai Chung Customs Building last Saturday (14th), and saw that the 57 boxes of goods declared as ceiling materials were placed in the deepest part of the container. However, after X-ray inspection, It was found that the middle part of the goods was hollowed out, and there were suspicious items inside. After opening the package, it was found that the goods were covered with two layers of plastic materials, and there were many bags of suspicious herbal plants and white crystalline powder in vacuum packaging placed in the hollowed out place. After inspection, it was suspected to be Marijuana flowers and methamphetamine, 38 kilograms and 34 kilograms respectively, worth a total of 30 million yuan.

After X-ray inspection, the customs officers found that the middle of the cargo was hollowed out, and there were suspicious items inside. After opening the package, drugs were used, and it was confirmed that they were suspected of marijuana flower and methamphetamine.

This operation cut off a drug supply chain and successfully prevented a batch of drugs from flowing into the Hong Kong market during the long holiday.

Liang Guowei also pointed out that in the past three years, the Customs seized 18 kilograms of methamphetamine shipped from Canada to Hong Kong, but the amount of methamphetamine seized this time was more than 80% higher than the sum of the past three years.
