The collapse of a commercial building in the Dominican Republic caused at least a dozen injuries on Wednesday, but local authorities are looking for people allegedly trapped under the rubble, according to various media reports in that country.
The collapse occurred in a Multimuebles company store in the province of La Vega, which sells electrical appliances.
An official count of victims is not yet known, but Civil Defense officials told the SIN News website that there were at least four seriously injured, and ten people trapped in the wreckage.
Videos shared on social networks show how the roof of the store completely collapsed, reducing the building to rubble.
Dozens of people began removing rubble in search of survivors until assistance from firefighters, emergency personnel and the police arrived.
The building was being remodeled, witnesses told local media, so the collapse could have trapped workers.
