There was great relief when relief for households with heating oil and pellet heating was announced. But since then it's been strangely quiet.

There was great relief when relief for households with heating oil and pellet heating was announced.

But since then it's been strangely quiet.

Munich - Heating oil buyers could breathe a sigh of relief when the Bundestag passed the oil price brake on December 15th.

After all, 6.31 million households in Germany use this energy source.

Up to 2,000 euros in grants are possible for a household, it was said at the time - but since then it has become strangely quiet about the grants.

The price brake is obviously being thwarted – by the ministerial bureaucracy in Berlin and Munich.

At the request of our newspaper, the Bavarian Ministry of Social Affairs informed us that the federal government had so far lacked concrete framework conditions.

"As far as we know, no coordination talks have been held with the federal states."

Bavaria could not yet implement processing of the heating oil grants

However, it does not look as if Bavaria itself is ready to go: Because up to now, the Ministry of Social Affairs does not even know who is supposed to process consumer applications for a heating oil subsidy.

Heating oil buyers - but also everyone who is waiting for subsidies for pellets, coal & Co. are affected - so look further into the tube.

How long?

That too is completely open.

Neither the Federal Ministries for Social Affairs and Economics nor the Bavarian Ministry of Social Affairs wanted to venture a forecast as to when applications could be made.

It looks better with the heating oil subsidies for companies in Bavaria.

The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs states: “The aim is to start applications in January if possible.

The application will be made online and processed by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria.”

Normal heating oil customers can only wait - and view heating oil bills that were issued to them between January 1st and November 30th, 2022.

A claim is only valid for this period.

In addition, you will also need the comparative calculations from 2021 for a grant application.

If it was only half as high, there is a good chance of getting a subsidy.
