The Syrian Ambassador to Iran, Dr. Shafiq Dayoub, discussed with the Iranian President's Adviser and Secretary of the Supreme Council for Free Trade and Industrial Zones and Special Economic Zones in Iran, Hujjatullah Abd al-Malik, ways and mechanisms to develop cooperation between Syria and Iran in the economic fields in general, and in the field of free zones in particular.
Ambassador Diop stressed the importance of developing cooperation in the field of free zones between the two countries, in a way that enhances their trade and economic relationship, leads to the flow of goods and commodities to their markets, and mitigate the effects of unilateral coercive sanctions imposed on the peoples of the two countries.
For his part, Abdul Maliki stressed the importance of developing cooperation between the two countries in the field of free zones and promoting mutual investments, in a way that enhances trade and economic relations between them, expressing Iran's readiness to sign a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between Tehran and Damascus in this regard.
