Crime of Fernando Báez Sosa: how the trial of the eight rugbiers continues and when the verdict could be known

2023-01-18T18:28:41.658Z

This Wednesday, three years after the murder of the 18-year-old boy in Gesell, the first stage of the process ended.

The last hearing to receive evidence in the trial for the crime of

Fernando Báez Sosa (18)

coincided with the third anniversary of his death.

This Wednesday the Courts of Dolores were papered with posters demanding justice.

Next week begins the final stretch of the trial, which consisted of 13 hearings, because the allegations begin.

Next Wednesday it will be the turn of the prosecution and the complaint by Fernando Burlando.

The next day, the lawyer for the eight rugby players accused of killing him, Hugo Tomei, will plead.

After the arguments of the three parties, the judges of the Oral Criminal Court (TOC) 1 of Dolores, made up of President María Claudia Castro, Christian Ariel Rabaia and Emiliano Lázzari, will decide the future of Máximo Thomsen (23), Luciano Pertossi (twenty-one).

Ciro Pertossi (22), Lucas Pertossi (23), Ayrton Viollaz (23), Enzo Comelli (22), Matías Benicelli (23) and Blas Cinalli (21).

The magistrates

wanted to announce the verdict on the last day of January, Tuesday the 31st

, but during the last day they did not confirm it.

While outside the room those who supported Fernando's family shouted "murderers, murderers, perpetual, perpetual", inside the defense experts, Juan José Fenoglio and Jorge Rodolfo Velich, questioned the autopsy.

Before autopsy footage was shown, the victim's parents left the room.

The place where Fernando had the print of Thomsen's shoe was seen, and the expert witness considered that all the injuries on the young man's face "are slight."

For his part, Velich maintained that "the autopsy is fundamental, it is the IPP, an unrepeatable expert evidence. The autopsy document, really, I apologize for what I am going to say, is embarrassing."

The day continued with the statements of two of the defendants.

First, Lucas Pertossi spoke: "I am very bad for what happened, I was under psychological treatment, a psychiatrist, medication. This made us very bad. I feel very sorry for everything that happened. I never hit Fernando Báez Sosa, I did not touch him , I did not participate in the murder plan to kill someone: I just went on vacation."

And then Blas Cinalli asked to speak, who related that outside Le Brique he saw a friend who was grabbed by the waist and foot.

"I told him to let go, he grabbed me. I couldn't get away. When I did, I kicked him. From the skills I could see, they say that Fernando had my blood on his little finger. I never hit him, I guess the person I ran into in the bowling alley would have gone," he said.
