One of the most requested periods among tourists for a vacation in Mexico is right now.
Between the months of November and April, tourists from all over the world come to Mexico, including many who come all the way from Israel.
But now there is an added risk for smokers in this country: a new law was recently approved that allows those who smoke cigarettes in the public space to be fined and even jailed.
The new law prohibits smoking cigarettes in any public space - including beaches, pools and more.
Until now, there was a ban on smoking cigarettes in bars, public transport, workplaces and restaurants, but now the fight against smoking across the country is taking a step forward and the smoking ban has been extended to more public areas.

What will happen to those who still smoke?
In the area of light punishment, this starts with fines ranging from 30 to 300 dollars, but in some cases the new law includes the possibility of jailing the violators for 36 hours, according to the Reuters report.
By the way, the use of electronic cigarettes is also very limited in Mexico, and there is currently a ban on importing them into the country.
Those who still want to smoke in Mexico will be able to do so in private spaces, whether closed or open.
You can, of course, also smoke in designated public smoking areas, but it is important to know that in Mexico the fight against smoking is getting tougher - and the new law has already come into effect.
