The ruling party in Catalonia, Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC, independence left), calls for a secessionist demonstration at the gates of the Franco-Spanish summit this Thursday.
The highest representative of this political formation, Pere Aragonès, president of the region since September 2020, will welcome the two delegations to Barcelona.
An illustration, no doubt, of the dilemmas of this political current;
the two wings of independence are divided between the reputedly moderate strategy of the ERC and the die-hard claims of the movement of Carles Puigdemont, the ex-president who, since the illegal referendum of 2017, has lived in Belgium to escape to the action of the Spanish justice.
