On video: Hamas publishes a video of alleged Mengistu (according to copyright law 27a)
Egypt has expressed a willingness to renew mediation efforts between Israel and Hamas in the issue of captives and prisoners - this was reported today (Wednesday) in the Lebanese newspaper al-Akhbar, close to Hezbollah.
This is after on Monday Hamas published the first documentation of the captivity of Avra Mengistu, who has been held in Gaza since 2014, against the background of the exchange of chiefs of staff in Israel.
According to the report in Al-Akhbar, Hamas expressed a willingness in talks with Egypt to resume the negotiations from where they left off and allow its implementation of the first phase of the deal - the release of Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed, in addition to information about the martyrs Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul. This, in exchange for those released in the Shalit deal who were re-arrested, and for the release of women, children, adults and the sick from Israeli prisons.
It was also reported that Egypt informed Hamas that it is preparing to renew contacts with the new government in Israel regarding the issue of POWs and prisoners. In Cairo, according to Al-Akhbar, they are waiting for the appointment of a new coordinator in Israel for the issue of POWs to replace Yaron Blum who resigned in October.
In Israel they confirmed that the video is authentic.

Israel refuses to release prisoners with "blood on their hands", and according to the report, the implementation of the agreement in two stages could answer the issue - so that in the first stage, less senior prisoners will be released in exchange for the two citizens, whom Hamas insists on describing as "soldiers".
Sources in Hamas told Al-Akhbar that Israel, at this stage, "is still disrupting any attempt to reach a prisoner exchange agreement" and accused it of a permanent retreat from the understandings it reaches with Cairo.
"She dreams that the issue will end without offering the proper price that will satisfy the Palestinian people," the officials said about Israel.
