In their defence, the defendants explained to the Saint-Brieuc court that they were transporting cannabis, which had to be paid for in … old currency.

Yesterday Tuesday January 17, four men were tried for a burglary with forcible confinement in Lannion (Côtes-d'Armor), the facts dating back to May 31, 2020. Three of them were sentenced to four to five years in prison, the the latter having been released.

According to the investigation and the story of the president of the hearing, reported by

Le Télégramme

, four individuals had entered before 9 a.m. at the home of an "enlightened collector of collector's items", demanding gold.

The men had explained that they had been "

paid to [...] find

" their victim, whose wife was also in the house.

The couple had been held under threat, tied up.

Much of the collection is washed away, featuring silver coins and precious jewelry.

The investigative work then made it possible to identify four suspects, from Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis).

A tobacconist from Lannion had first put the investigators on the track of a car registered in 93. After exchanges of information with the BRI of Yvelines, a man finally emerged: Akim Goucem.

His cell phone had been confined to Lannion the day before the incident, then during the return trip to Île-de-France... exactly like that of the robbed victim.

At trial, the defendant explained that he had transported cannabis to Brittany, the payment of which was provided for in old currency.

A defendant released

Arguments that did not convince: Akim Goucem was sentenced to five years in prison, like one of the accomplices, Yassin Lanjri.

Issa Coulibaly, one of the other members of the commando according to justice, was given a firm four-year sentence, while a fourth was released, "for lack of sufficient elements to retain him among the members of the expedition", as comments Me Manant, lawyer for the civil parties, with Le Figaro.

The latter for his part wondered about the identification of the collector.

Quoted by

Le Télégramme

, Me Ouchikli, who defended one of the co-defendants, asked him the question yesterday Tuesday, despite the incriminating evidence: "Masked thieves, with caps, and they would have been recognized on the board weeks later?".
