"After the sightings of the last few days at Villa Pamphilj, we intervened with the responsible bodies, the Metropolitan City Police and the Local Health Authority. The intervention plan based on the protocol of the prefecture, signed by Piantedosi, is currently underway. There have been no killings. The protocol provides for narcotization by the ASL. After which the animals are taken, as happened in this case, to specialized structures where the ungulates are analyzed to understand if they have contracted swine fever. And from there it is decided what to do".
This was stated by the president of the XII municipality of Rome, Elio Tomassetti, regarding the eight wild boars of Villa Pamphilj.
To solve the wild boar problem in Rome"
we must do more - said the mini-mayor - but we carry problems of non-management from the last administration.
We are inheriting a dramatic situation". Regarding the activists of the Sfattoria who came to the scene to protest the treatment suffered by the animals: "The question must be clear: either we defend urban contexts, not by killing the animals but by having the possibility of drugging them and taking them elsewhere , or we will have Rome invaded", repeats Tomassetti who then underlines: "I, as president, between the right of children and people to walk freely around their city and the right of wild boars to stroll around Villa Pamphilj, I prefer the first".
"A huge herd of adult wild boars, made up of at least ten elements, crossed the Montespaccato district, in Boccea, passing in front of a post office and not far from the entrance to some schools, in full opening hours for children. The city of Rome is now an open-air jungle".
This was denounced by the Lazio regional councilor of the League, Daniele Giannini, who received a video shot this morning around 8.15 by some residents of the area.
