Two years after entering the country and pushing forward the electric car revolution in Israel, Tesla Israel this week unveiled a new price list for the Model 3 and Model Y models. The price list includes dramatic price reductions during another market breaker, and this despite the doubling of the tax on electric models at the beginning of the month.
The biggest surprise in the new price list is provided by the Tesla Model Y, which was launched in Israel in April last year at a higher than expected price that started at NIS 340,074, became more expensive at the beginning of the year to NIS 359,848, and as of this morning has been discounted to NIS 270,598 - a price that reflects a dramatic discount of NIS 89,250.
The price of the performance version of the Model Y will now be NIS 308,843, a decrease of NIS 74,200.
All prices by the way are "on the road" prices with expected delivery until the end of March 2023 and a guaranteed price until delivery.
The new move leaves quite a few angry customers who bought the car in the last few months and found out this morning that the price of their car was drastically cut overnight.
The old customers of the brand are also expected to suffer from a price drop in the next used price list that will be published in the upcoming Levi Yitzhak price list.
At the same time, in our opinion, this is a welcome move in the local car market, which leaves not only the customers in shock, but also the competing importers who have become accustomed to only raising prices, and it seems that the new move will stimulate competition again, and may lead to a price war that we consumers may enjoy.
It should be noted that Tesla's global discounting has left customers angry not only in Israel but also in other markets around the world.
In China, where the discounts reached a rate of 24% in the number of discounts in the last two months, hundreds of customers came to Tesla centers and demanded discounts for the vehicles they purchased.
According to Tesla, the discount was done as a preliminary step to reduce the expected government subsidy in China, but as mentioned, it seems that Elon Musk is more concerned about the decline in sales and the value of the shares.
