The Economic Committee is expected to recommend to the government to lower the age of free travel on public transportation from 75 to 67 - this is what emerged today (Wednesday) from a discussion on the "Derech Shaveh" reform led by the former Minister of Transportation, Merav Michaeli.



The committee will also discuss the travel rates by the various means of transportation, different payment routes and travel benefits in the periphery.

The Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Finance, public transportation operators, representatives of local authorities and regional councils, the national student union and other factors were invited to the committee this morning.

The former chairman of the committee, MK Michael Biton, protested at the beginning of the debate once again about the way the previous reform was conducted: "They hid the reform from us, we sat in the committee two days before the introduction of the reform and they refused to inform us."



MK Bitan commented on the reform: "We will demand clarifications and corrections from the Ministry of Transportation." The head of the research department claimed that "the tariff reform did not receive a special budget and therefore the reform was harmed - especially the passengers who travel little." Lieberman claimed in the debate that "there will be no solution for public transportation without us We will take care of the metro."
