The 16-year-old Latina mother murdered with her baby and four other members of the same family in a California home on Monday was trying to flee the "massacre" when she was shot in the head, the sheriff's office said Tuesday. of Tulare County.

Both were found lifeless on the street, outside the house.
The sheriff's office had initially said the teen was 17 and their baby was 6 months old.

The other four murdered relatives were identified as
Rosa Parraz
, 72 years old;
Marcos Parraz
, 19;
Eladio Parraz
, 52;
and
Jennifer Analla
, 49.
Eladio Parraz was the teens' uncle, Rosa Parraz was their grandmother and Analla was in a relationship with another family member who is not among the fatalities, sheriff's office spokeswoman Teresa Douglass said.
"None of this was by accident," Boudreaux added.
"It was deliberate, intentional and horrible."
Authorities believe two people were responsible for the shooting.
None of them have been identified or detained and Boudreaux did not provide further details in this regard.

A person who survived but was not identified called 911 from inside the home and reported the shooting around 3:30 a.m., the sheriff said.
"He heard the shots going up and down the hall," he said.
"He put his feet against the door to prevent them from opening it."

At one point, the person heard the attackers force the door handle before continuing on their way, Boudreaux said.
"He was so scared that all he could do was hold the door, hoping he wouldn't be the next victim," he added.
Two other survivors were hiding in a nearby trailer, where one of the victims was fatally shot, he said, adding that the shooters did not enter the trailer.
Three other victims were found inside the home.

Sheriff's deputies arrived at the home in the California Central Valley farming community seven minutes after authorities began receiving 911 calls. By then, Boudreaux said, the shooters were "long gone."
They will not ask for the death penalty against the accused of carrying out the worst massacre against Latinos in the United States.

Boudreaux declined to say why the family appeared to have been targeted by a criminal gang or drug cartel.
He claimed that the house has previously been linked to gang activity.
One of the victims, Eladio Parraz, was detained there earlier this month while authorities were reviewing his parole compliance.
She was in possession of multiple weapons and drugs.
Parraz was released on bail four days later, Boudreaux said.
Authorities have offered a

for information related to the murders.
