Disaster in Ukraine: the interior minister and other officials were killed in a helicopter crash (Reuters)
A helicopter crashed this morning (Wednesday) near a nursery and a residential building in the suburb of the city of Rovary, near Kyiv.
A police spokesman told Suspilne public channel that at least 16 people were killed and 22 were already hospitalized.
Among the dead are Ukrainian Interior Minister Denis Monastirsky, his deputy and the Secretary of State.
A fire broke out near the kindergarten, which was quickly evacuated.
"There were children and staff in the daycare center at the time. All have now been evacuated. There are casualties," Kyiv Region Governor Oleksiy Kolba wrote on Telegram.
The weather at the time of the crash was gloomy and foggy at the time of the crash.

In a video shared on social media, a burning building can be seen and screams can be heard.
It is not clear what caused the helicopter to crash.
