The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies and the Brazilian Senate have released for the first time the videos captured by security cameras of the anti-democratic attacks by protesters against the National Congress building on January 8.
In the video at the top of this news item, you can follow chronologically the progress of the group from the Esplanade of the Ministries to the breach of the police barrier that allowed them first to occupy the outside of the Congress and finally access the access ramp to the roof of the Parliament.
From inside, it is possible to see the efforts of the legislative police officers to contain the advance of the protesters, amid a dense cloud of smoke, tear gas and pepper spray.
During the more than eight hours of the invasion, the Bolsonarists broke windows, destroyed public property, and even set fire inside the headquarters of the legislative branch.
The image of the end of the clashes, around midnight on Sunday, shows the legislative police taking the demonstrators into custody.
A preliminary report released this week estimates that the damage from the invasion of Congress will exceed half a million euros.
Of the 1,500 detainees, 684 have already been released, according to the most recent information from the Federal Police.
