2023-01-19T18:17:21.433Z

'It casts doubt on any long-term investment decision in Argentina,' say the private leaders in the letter they delivered to Deputies.

An

important group of businessmen

sent a letter to the Impeachment Committee of the Chamber of Deputies in which they

request that the request for impeachment

of the four members of the

Supreme Court of Justice

be withdrawn because, among other arguments, "it

puts doubt any long-term investment decision in Argentina

."

Among the signatures of the 17-page text there are several prominent names such as Enrique Cristofani, Roberto Murchison, Santiago Mignone, Guillermo Lipera, Juan Vaquer, Cartellone, Alejandro Elsztain;

jurists like Alejandro Carrió, the president of the City Bar Association, Alberto Garay, among others.

The businessmen emphasize the division of powers and point out that "initiating a process of impeachment against the members of the Supreme Court of Justice for not agreeing with the content of their sentences is a cause not provided for in the National Constitution."

They describe this argument as "

institutional nonsense

."

And they wonder: "

Who is going to invest in a country that permanently changes the rules of the game and ignores the rulings of Justice?

"

The letter was also signed by Gonzalo Tanoira (ACDE-San Miguel), Arturo Acevedo, Cristiano Rattazzi, Gastón Remy, Roberto Murchison, Claudio Cesario, Guibert Englebienne (Globant), Antonio Estrany y Gendre, Luis Bameule (AEA), Mariano Bosch, Eduardo Braun, Gerardo Cartellone, Carlos Miguens, Juan Llach, Facundo Gómez Minujin (president of Amcham) Eduardo Caride, Fernando Oris de Roa, Javier Goñi (Ledesma) Juan Carlos Cassagne, Máximo Founruge, Cecilia Mairal and Javier Patrón (Marval Studio).

The complete letter of the businessmen against the judgment to the court

We, the undersigned, citizens, businessmen and professionals concerned about the present and future of our beloved Argentina, address ourselves in the first place to the members of the Political Judgment Commission of the Chamber of Deputies as well as to the rest of the deputies of said Chamber to desist from the attempt to impeach the judges who are members of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (CSJN).

The National Constitution is the social pact that unites Argentines and is the framework in which all the activities that take place in the country take place.

Respect for the division of powers and compliance with the judgments of the Judiciary are essential elements of said framework and fundamental for the existence and maintenance of private investment and job creation, the only way to reduce the poverty that affects a large part of of our fellow citizens.

Initiating a process of impeachment against the members of the CSJN for not agreeing with the content of their sentences, a cause not provided for in the National Constitution, is an institutional mistake that, in addition to negatively embarrassing ourselves in the eyes of the world, casts doubt on any long-term investment decision in Argentina.

Who is going to invest in a country that permanently changes the rules of the game and ignores the rulings of Justice?

For this reason, the undersigned appeal to the conscience and responsibility of the deputies so that they reflect on time, dedicate themselves to the task of addressing the multiple problems that afflict our population and avoid our country a period of unjustified political turbulence that It does nothing to help solve these problems.
