Dozens of Palestinians participated in a vigil today in the city of Nablus, in the West Bank, in support of prisoners in the Israeli occupation detention centers, and in celebration of the release of the prisoner, Maher Younes.

Wafa Agency stated that the participants in the vigil organized by the Palestinian National Forces and the Prisoners Support Committee in Martyrs' Square in the city center raised the Palestinian flag and pictures of the prisoners, including the freed prisoners Karim and Maher Younes, and banners calling on the concerned human rights institutions and the international community to stand with the prisoners, support them and release them, especially the sick, children and women. .

The participants stressed that the practices of the occupation forces against the prisoners are war crimes and crimes against humanity, and summarize the occupation's policy against the entire Palestinian people, and are inconsistent with all international conventions and norms, including the Fourth Geneva Convention, stressing that the Palestinian people continue their resistance and steadfastness to expose the crimes of the occupation and liberate their land.

The occupation authorities released the prisoner, Maher Younes, 61, from the village of Ara inside the occupied Palestinian territories in 1948, at dawn today, after 40 years in its detention centers, while its forces deployed in the vicinity of the Younes family’s home before his arrival to his home in an attempt to prevent any celebration of his liberation after all these years of detention. .
