(CNN Spanish) -
The National Civil Police of El Salvador reported that they arrested a Colombian citizen who is carrying a blue notice from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) for her alleged links to the murder of Marcelo Pecci.
Pecci, the prosecutor of Paraguay's Specialized Unit to Fight Drug Trafficking, was assassinated on the island of Barú, south of Cartagena in May.
The Minister of Justice and Security of El Salvador, Gustavo Villatoro, said at a press conference that in addition to Margaret Lizeth Chacón Zúñiga, the Salvadoran citizen Wilber Jehovany Rodríguez was also arrested, who will be accused of the crime of illegal groups, since, according to the authorities, collaborated so that the detainee could hide from the Colombian justice system.
“We received information from Interpol from Colombia that one of those involved in this cowardly murder entered the country on May 26, 2022 and has been traveling to different countries in Latin America, except Colombia,” Villatoro said.

CNN does not know if they already have legal representation.
Pecci was on a beach with his wife, journalist Claudia Aguilera, when two subjects got off a jet ski and shot him.
At the time, it was reported that she was in good health.
