Deir ez-Zor City Council, in cooperation with the Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, launched an afforestation campaign targeting central islands, squares, and arable areas in the city's streets.
The head of the city council, Engineer Jarir Kakakhan, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the city streets were divided into 6 axes within the framework of the campaign, in which the central islands will be cleaned and trees planted by the council and the Directorate of Agriculture, before the rest of the service agencies that own water tanks follow up on watering them periodically.
Kakakhan indicated that the campaign aims to restore green vegetation and give an aesthetic appearance to the city's streets.
In turn, the Director of Agriculture, Eng. Fouad Abdoun, stated that the campaign includes planting palm trees, cypresses and thuja in the central islands and squares, restoring areas where trees were cut down and vandalized, in addition to cutting, cleaning and coordinating the existing trees.
