A man and his father are under investigation by Brazilian police, suspected of having ordered and participated in the murder of several members of their family, including three children aged 6 and 7.
"Investigations are progressing to verify (...) if they were really the co-perpetrators of this heinous crime"
, during which the suspect's wife, his mother and his sister were also killed, said Wednesday Ricardo Viana, civil police inspector of Brasília.
The police received a call late last week reporting the disappearance of eight people from the same family.
Six charred bodies, including those of the three children, were found in the states of Goiás and Minas Gerais in two vehicles belonging to the family.
A seventh body was found Wednesday in the Planaltina area where some of the victims were believed to have been held captive, investigators said.
According to the police,
"the objective was to steal valuables from the victims"
