Multiple civil initiatives based on generating alternative energy and investing it in public services took place in the town of Al-Thala in the western countryside of As-Suwayda, which reflected a state of community cooperation and solidarity in finding solutions to service problems, in light of the current exceptional circumstances.

The initiatives, as mentioned by the member of the local community committee assigned to implement them, Iyad Sulaika, stemmed from the sense of social responsibility of the people of the town and the expatriates towards their homeland and their town, and based on studying the required needs and facing the negative effects of power outages and fuel shortages, as a result of the conditions of war and unjust blockade that our country is going through.

Sulaika explained that the initiatives exceeded the total cost of 210 million pounds, including a project to connect water wells to the electricity network that is exempt from rationing to pump water to citizens optimally, after obtaining the approval and supervision of the Water Corporation and the General Electricity Company in Suwayda and their supervision, where 22 towers were erected and connected to the line feeding the wells.

The initiatives also included a project to install a solar energy system for the telecom exchange in the town to feed the savings in the exchange, and to serve citizens and institutions in Al-Thala district and students with the Internet around the clock, under the supervision of the Syrian Telecommunications Company branch, indicating that the sector that benefits from the project includes the town of Al-Tha’la and the neighboring villages of Al-Dara, Al-Aslahah and Sakakah. .

These initiatives included the implementation of a project to install a solar energy system for the building of the Town Council of Al-Thala, with the aim of facilitating citizen s' transactions without delay, as Sulaika pointed out that there are efforts to implement other initiatives of importance and priority during the coming period.

Khaldoun al-Abed, head of the al-Thala town council, spoke about the contribution of the system that was operated in the council to expedite the completion of transactions without delay, and to secure electrical supply for office equipment such as computers and printers, while providing the cultural center located within the same building with electric current.

Karm Theeb and Jihad Al-Afif, from the town's residents, said that these cooperative initiatives reflected positively on the public interest, eased the burdens of purchasing water tanks on citizens, provided better internet service, and facilitated access to municipal services, stressing the importance of circulating them at the level of all regions, because our country suffers from Difficult conditions and in need of the efforts and solidarity of all his children.

The cooperative civil work initiative in the town of Al-Thala, with a population of about 8,700, is not the only one of its kind in As-Suwayda, as it is one of similar social, service and educational projects supported by community activities and expatriates that achieved positive results on various sectors and aspects of life, reflecting the values ​​of social solidarity and solidarity to face the difficult circumstances. hard.
