A fatal traffic accident occurred in Tai Wai tonight (19th).
At 10:49 p.m., the police received a report that a private car was driving at No. 1 Tianxin Street, Longhang Village, and hit a 60-year-old female passerby. The injured person was sent to Prince of Wales Hospital in a coma.
In addition, a passenger in the private car had chest pains and was treated by ambulancemen on the spot. The police are investigating the cause of the car accident and arrested the male driver on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.
As far as what was seen at the scene, the incident involved a TESLA electric car, and the front windshield of the car was broken.
The electric car was driving along Tin Sum Street towards Hin Keng, and arrived at the pedestrian crossing near Long Hang Village. It hit a woman who was crossing the road from right to left at the front of the car.
The injured man, surnamed Guo, was 65 years old and died after being taken to the hospital by ambulance.
It is reported that she is a resident of Longheng Village; the driver of the private car involved in the incident, surnamed Dai 35, was taken away and detained for interrogation, during which time she had to be handcuffed.
The female passenger of the private car, surnamed Hu, is the mother of the driver. She was also arranged to be sent to the hospital for treatment after the incident.
A pair of shoes were left at the scene, one fell near the pool of blood, and the other was near the pedestrian crossing, with a distance of about 10 meters between the two.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash, including whether someone disobeyed traffic lights.
After investigation, the police said that they are now investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tianxin on the night of January 19, in which a 65-year-old woman died.
At about 10:49 p.m., a private car driven by a 35-year-old man was driving along Tin Sum Street. When it was near a bus stop, it knocked down the woman who was crossing the road.
She sustained serious head injuries and was taken unconscious to Prince of Wales Hospital where she was certified dead at 11.13pm.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of "dangerous driving causing death" and is currently being detained for investigation.
A 62-year-old female passenger in the private car was unwell and sent to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.
The special investigation team of the New Territories South Regional Traffic Department is following up the investigation case.
