The project:

a private house in a settlement in the north, by the Sea of Galilee

Residents:

couple + 4

Area:

about 330 square meters built on a plot of about 930 square meters

Architecture and design:

Israel Beech Architects

On the side of a mountain, right in front of the views of the Sea of Galilee, a lot is located Narrow and long on it was built the impressive home of a couple, both self-employed, and parents of four children - from middle school age to military age.

Those entrusted with the planning and design of the unique house are Dan and Hilla Israelwitz, the owners of the firm Israelwitz Architects, which is responsible for some of the intriguing projects designed in recent years in Israel.

"The lot we got next to us is long and narrow, so we had to design a house that emanates from the side of the mountain and emanates from it to the outside. As such, the planning was complex and took about a year and a half, the construction took about an additional year and a half," explains architect Dan Yisralevitz.

"The lot is located below the level of the street, so from the street itself you can actually see the roof of the house. The topographical challenges led us to produce a functional, clean house, devoid of unnecessary decorations. We covered the roof of the building, which looks like another facade from the street, with about 35 tons of pebbles that we imported from Greece . In addition, we planted an abundance of vegetation that blends into the scenery of the area. We divided the garden into several areas and planned stone paths around it. The trees planted around it were brought from all over the country."

One of the homeowners' requests from the designers was to create a light-filled living space that would allow an almost direct connection between the inside and the outside, so that the spectacular view in the area would be optimally integrated into the interior design.

In order to use the lot area in the best way, the entrance to the house is made from the side part of the lot.

In the entrance plaza you will also find the swimming pool that was designed in the heart of the building, right in the center of the house.

In order to allow the family members to use it throughout the year, the pool was surrounded by walls;

So even when significant winds are blowing, the Sea of Kinneret is still pleasant to dip in.

Extremely large windows were opened in the walls, some of them even include 10-meter-long glass showcases without columns interrupting them.

And to carry them, the pair of architects designed hidden windows.

"We managed to plan for the family members as many open facades as possible that allow nature to integrate into the house, as well as an impressively sized pool: 4 meters wide and 13 meters long, which we lined with paving stones and turquoise tiles," explains Dan Israelevich.

"Next to the pool, we planned a hospitality area where a dining table was placed around mustard-colored chairs, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and a bar covered in pitana wood. The pool is visible from all sides of the house, and is particularly striking when viewed from the public space and the couple's master bedroom. Its color adds a colorful dimension to the interior of the house, which was designed in monochromatic colors and limited".

Upon entering the public space, the living room, dining area and kitchen are revealed.

This area is bounded by two glass showcases - one facing the views of the Sea of Galilee and the other facing the pool area.

"On top of half of the living room wall, we designed cabinets whose fronts are covered with light veneer with a matte finish that we imported from Italy. In the center of the furniture, we created a dark niche with shelves," explains Hila Israelevich.

"We covered the other part of the wall with a dark basalt stone, dense and perforated, and on it hangs a very colorful work of art in the pop art style that adds a much-needed splash of color in the monochromatic space. In the center of the living room we placed a deep and luxurious leather sofa and a coffee table."

The kitchen was designed as a parallelogram - one of the strips includes tall cabinets covered with Tabo veneer in a light shade and handles in a matte black shade were installed on them.

"Through this front there is a hidden passage to a large and spacious pantry and parallel to the high front a large 5-meter long island was planned, on which a basalt-colored dekton plate was placed," explains Hila Israelevich.

"The dining table imported from Italy has an elegant dark glass plate and is located parallel to the glass wall facing the pool."

And from the public, to the private: a particularly spacious and high corridor, 3 meters long, leads to the bedroom wing, where the parents' master bedroom, the four children's bedrooms, two bathrooms and the master bedroom, which is used as a guest room, were designed. The wardrobe in the hallway has a veneer cover and handles Dark, the same as those in the kitchen. Inside this cabinet are hidden the communication systems, the electrical systems and the smart home systems that were installed here. On the opposite wall hung two colorful pop art pieces.

The children's rooms are in the depth of the building and are surrounded by English courtyards through which fresh air and natural light enter and in themselves serve as relaxing and private cozy corners for them.

Each of the bedrooms has a wall cabinet covered with veneer and dark handles, which also includes a writing desk.

The bathrooms are covered with black tiles and in the center of the bath cabinets covered with light wood veneer, a white sink is integrated.
