2023-01-19T04:53:03.758Z

Mitsubishi's family of crossovers is expanding with the arrival of the PHEV version of the Eclipse Cross, which offers an electric range of 45 km. Similar to hybrids, the price guarantee is charged? From NIS 219,900

Kalmobil, a Mitsubishi importer, begins marketing the economical and environmentally friendly version of the Eclipse Cross, equipped with a plug-in hybrid drive unit (PHEV).

This version will compete with plug-in cars such as the MG EHS, the Kia Sportage PHEV and to some extent also with the Link & Co 01 which was marketed in Israel this week.

The Eclipse Cross Plug-in is equipped with a power unit that includes a 2.4-liter 98 hp gasoline engine that operates using the Atkinson cycle method and a pair of electric motors with an additional power of 82 and 97 hp (no combined power data), which provide dual drive with variable power distribution on demand .

The performance is only reasonable with acceleration to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 162 km/h, and at least on paper the combined fuel consumption is impressive compared to the regular gasoline version with a manufacturer figure of 50 km per liter, but much less impressive than the competitors.

A battery with a capacity of 13.8 kWh allows the car to taste the electric world with the option of driving on electricity only for a range of up to 45 km.

The battery charging time takes around 6-7 hours and the model also supports fast DC charging up to 50 kWh.

The model will be marketed in 3 trim levels to choose from, where the basic Executive trim level includes: multimedia with a 9" touch screen and smartphone connectivity, reverse camera, dual zone climate control, smart key, electric handbrake and 18" rims.

The safety equipment includes distance keeping warning and autonomous braking, lane departure warning (subtle without active correction), adaptive high beam lighting, adaptive cruise control and 7 airbags.

The middle Premium trim level additionally includes: an elite data display, an electric panoramic sunroof, LED main lighting, an electric driver's seat, synthetic leather upholstery combined with chamois and the safety upgrade with a blind spot alert in the side mirrors and a rear cross traffic alert.

The high Luxury finish level also includes: leather upholstery, electric adjustment for the driver's and passenger's seats, heating for the front seats, heating for the steering wheel and peripheral parking sensors.

The price of the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will range from NIS 219,900 for the entry-level version to NIS 239,900 for the high-end version.

On the one hand, it presents a price that is dramatically lower than the price of the model that arrived in Israel in recent months through the parallel import agents, who priced it at NIS 289,900 (further evidence that the parallel import does not provide the required competition), and it is also cheaper than popular PHEV models such as the Kia Sportage and Peugeot and 3008 (NIS 250,000).

On the other hand, the MG EHS (category sales leader) is currently offered for NIS 188,888 and you can purchase the Link & Co 01, which is defined at least according to the importer as a premium vehicle, for NIS 229,900.
