Two shooting incidents in the north within an hour: a suspected attempt to kill a relative of a senior criminal (Israel Police Spokesperson)
A senior member of a criminal organization was arrested this evening (Thursday) in Israel on suspicion of involvement in the shooting of houses in north Tel Aviv. The officers of the National Serious and International Crime Investigation Unit (Yachbal) detained him upon his landing in Israel and he was taken to the unit's offices.
This delay joins five other detainees in the case, whose detention has been extended until next week.
Yesterday, a well-known businessman from the north of Tel Aviv was arrested on suspicion of extortion by threats and shooting in the city's territories.
The police are investigating the involvement of other factors related to the events.
The suspect was arrested following an undercover investigation by Yahbal. It is suspected that the businessman was behind the recent shootings at houses in Tel Aviv.

About two weeks ago, on Saturday, a suspect opened fire on a parked vehicle and a house on Ehud Street in the luxury Tzahala neighborhood in Tel Aviv.
There were no casualties in the incident, and the police said that the background was a criminal shooting.
According to a report, the shots were fired at the house of a man known from the real estate business, who previously served as a state witness.
