The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces condemned the European Parliament's designation of the Revolutionary Guards as "terrorist organizations", warning of the repercussions of such decisions.
The Iranian News Agency, “IRNA,” quoted the General Staff as saying in a statement today: “This step comes after the failure of the project to sow unrest and destabilize security in Iran, and under the influence of the hostile policies of the terrorist regime of the United States and the government of the fake Zionist entity, and in compliance with them to show
The European Parliament is aware of the extent of its double standards, their opposition to security and peace, and their contradiction with all international legal decisions and rules.
The statement stressed that "this unwise decision clearly contradicts the most basic international decisions and rules, and will negatively affect regional and global security, tranquility, and peace," warning Europeans of its consequences.
The statement indicated that identifying terrorist groups and organizations is the prerogative of the Security Council in accordance with Article 39 of the Charter of the United Nations, and therefore unilateral measures are rejected, non-binding, and lack international jurisdiction.
