Chief Criminal Inspector of the Mong Kok Police District, Chen Menghao, explained the case today (19th) and stated that after the police arrested a 26-year-old man in the Mong Kok watch robbery case last Thursday, the day before yesterday and yesterday (17th and 18th) in the operation. A 24-year-old man and two women were arrested in Tuen Mun, Sheung Shui and Mong Kok on suspicion of "conspiracy to rob", "handling stolen goods" and "assisting criminals". Two male suspects, who reported to be restaurant waiters and site workers, were being detained for investigation; two female suspects, who reported to be waiters and physiotherapists respectively, had been released on bail pending further investigation.
It is reported that the 26-year-old male suspect who was reported as a restaurant waiter is Vietnamese, but was born in Hong Kong. He and the other three suspects all hold Hong Kong identity cards.
Chen Menghao said that during the police investigation, it was found that the two male suspects were not only related to the Mong Kok watch shop robbery, but also related to another robbery in Wong Tai Sin District on December 12 last year. As for the two female arrestees, they were suspected of assisting criminals to hide and evade police pursuit.
Police believe the suspects in both robberies have been arrested.
