Apparently there is a problem with the implementation of the planned 49-euro ticket.

According to a report by the "Rheinische Post" (Thursday edition), this comes from a response from the Federal Ministry of Transport to a request from the Union about the planned local and regional transport ticket that is valid throughout Germany.

Accordingly, there are still numerous unanswered questions regarding legal aspects, the tariff regulations, the conditions of carriage and the technical implementation.

As before, the federal and state governments are coordinating with representatives of the municipalities and transport companies "in order to create the conditions for the most attractive offer possible," according to the information in the statement from the Ministry of Transport.

There are still "a number of open points" about the introduction of the so-called Germany ticket, which are currently being clarified.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the legislative process for introducing the ticket should take place at the beginning of the year.

According to a report by the editorial network Germany (RND), the federal and state governments still have to agree on whether the ticket should only be available digitally or also on paper.

The industry would push for paper, the Ministry of Transport prefers the purely digital solution and a chip card alternative.

The traffic policy spokesman for the Union faction, Thomas Bareiß (CDU), criticized the delay in the offer in the "Rheinische Post".

This was initially supposed to start in January, then on April 1st and a few days ago Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) called May 1st.

"But nothing happened."

"Too many mistakes were made"

Germany's top consumer advocate, Ramona Pop, meanwhile called for a round table on the 49-euro ticket to strengthen passenger rights.

"In order for the Deutschlandticket to work, it has to be customer-oriented," said the chairwoman of the Federal Association of Consumers to the RND.

“We are calling for a round table for this.

Without adequate participation from civil society and passenger and consumer associations, consumer interests are in danger of being crushed.«

At the same time, Pop warned of mistakes in the design: "The 9-euro ticket inspired a lot of people," she said.

Unfortunately, the Germany ticket doesn't look like it: "Too many mistakes were made: first the eternal waiting for the ticket.

Then you ask yourself why it should only be available by subscription.

In addition, the restrictions on transferability and take-away options.«

Lower Saxony's Minister of Transport, Olaf Lies, has meanwhile announced that he expects the nationwide 49-euro ticket to be introduced on May 1st.

The so-called Deutschlandticket is an essential component of the mobility turnaround and will clear the tariff jungle, said the SPD politician on Wednesday.

Local transport must be made more attractive through more frequent phasing and new vehicles and stops.
