The shock of the legal revolution of Levin's opponent is completely justified.

All the recent polls on the subject will testify to this, and the voices that oppose it - also from the right.

It is quite clear that her whole concern is to upset the balance between the three authorities.

The motive is control.

Sorry, governors.

This is neither surprising nor new.

Most of human history is actually the story of power struggles between leaders - usually middle-aged men seeking to expand, deepen or extend their tenure and control.

There are no shortage of examples throughout history and here at home.

The move by Yariv and Netanyahu is only possible thanks to the majority they have in the other two authorities: the executive and the legislative - in the government and the Knesset.

And they use it to also take over the third authority, the judiciary, which is traditionally considered a headache in government offices.

It is true that every decision must ultimately be legal, and it is true that legal advisors and judges are the most qualified interpreters of the law, but in the eyes of the elected officials, it is impossible that the last word, that is to say - control, not be theirs.

Admittedly, this is what happened to them this week with Deri's disqualification.

Still, it is not unreasonable to fear that this simple and necessary decision of the Supreme Court could be the swan song of the rule of law in Israel as we know it.

And we will all still remember where we were the day Deri was disqualified.

Yes, it is upsetting and even discouraging to see your country slowly change its face, but it cannot be ignored that in a democracy, in the end, one counts fingers;

in the various parliaments around the world, in the Senate, in Congress.

And yes, also in the Knesset of Israel.

How many are in favor, how many are against, passed or not passed, thank you very much and peace.

It is true that the other foundations of democracy are also important - protection of minorities, protection of rights, etc.

But the majority is the main thing, and the majority is the determining factor, and whoever has the majority - usually tends to be a little less impressed by all the other principles.

In the case in question, this majority originates from broad popular support for the right-wing parties.

Is it true that in a different arrangement of the stars and in a slightly different political conjuncture - Merav Michaeli we already said?

- Everything could have looked different, and even the opposite, and the left would have formed the government.

Numerically, the nation is split almost exactly in the middle between just-not-Bibi and Bibi-king-of-Israel.

But the right won a majority, quite overwhelming to be honest.

And it happened mainly thanks to the almost unimaginably huge popularity of Benjamin Netanyahu.

We will not repeat here everything that has been said and written and filmed and broadcast and recorded and tweeted and played about the Netanyahu family in the last 30 years.

And there is no need.

The simple, decisive fact is that after all this, and despite the trial going on against him in Jerusalem these very days, the majority of voters in Israel want Netanyahu to be their prime minister.

And now it turns out that they want it even at the price of renouncing democracy, at least as we know it.

This broad popular support, this majority, is the secret of the power of Netanyahu and Levin's legal revolution.

And as long as they have the majority, the fingers - in the government, in the plenary, in the committees - they will continue to run forward, and will discover very quickly that it was not the legal advisors in the ministries or the Supreme Court that ever stood in their way to success, but all the other known reasons: corruption, ego, Stupidity, and especially ignoring the real problems, such as the cost of living for example.

Deri was disqualified, but it doesn't really matter.

Netanyahu and Levin will probably win this round.

Because life is a wheel, and if the left ever wins, these laws will be the first to be repealed anyway.

And then - like at the end of a brutal roller-coaster jolt - we'll be right back where we were, only to find that the real challenges that were neglected have become more difficult.

were we wrong
