At least 18 people were killed in two terrorist attacks in north and northwest Burkina Faso.

And Agence France-Presse quoted security sources as saying today: “At least 18 people were killed yesterday, including 16 members of units supporting the army in the north and northwest of the country,” noting that the first attack targeted members of the “Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland” movement in Raquigtinga. In Bam governorate, in the north of the country, 7 people were killed, including a woman, and about ten people were injured, some of them seriously.

The second attack took place in Nayala governorate, northwest of the country, following an ambush on a convoy accompanied by members of the same movement and military personnel, which resulted in the killing of one civilian and about 10 volunteers.

Since 2015, Burkina Faso has witnessed repeated terrorist attacks, which have resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries, and the displacement of about two million people from their homes.
