Three weeks after the revelation which puts the American president on the same level as his opponent Donald Trump - who himself has retained 11,000

Make no mistake, if Joe Biden has “no regrets”, it is not for having kept classified documents but for the way he handled the case.

Three weeks ago, CBS revealed that classified documents had been discovered in his private office and at his home in November.

Traveling to California to encourage reconstruction efforts after several devastating storms passed through the state on Thursday, Joe Biden was asked about the controversy by a journalist.

At first he got annoyed.

“I'll answer your question but here's the deal: what frankly bothers me is that we have a serious problem here, we talk about what's going on (the storms, editor's note).

And the American people don't quite understand why you don't ask me about it,” he first said.

And to continue: “We are cooperating fully, we look forward to this being resolved quickly,” said Joe Biden after remarks on the recovery efforts underway in California after the recent storms.

“I think you're going to find there's nothing there.

I regret nothing.

I am what the lawyers told me they wanted me to do – that is exactly what we do”.

And to add that a “handful of documents were classified in the wrong place”, and given to the National Archives after their discovery in the fall.

This is the second time that the Democratic president has reacted after the revelation of classified documents dating from the mandate of Barack Obama found in his private office in Washington DC, and in his home in Wilmington, Delaware.

Since the start of the controversy, while the FBI is investigating the 11,000 documents found at Donald Trump's house, some of which are stamped "top secret", the White House has tried not to go into details and to promise full cooperation.

Joe Biden's legal team admitted last week that they found classified documents relating to his tenure as vice president in the Obama administration in his Delaware home, including some in his garage.

Aides had previously found another batch of classified documents at his residence and at a Washington think tank with which he was associated.

On January 11, he said he did not know what the documents contained.

Attorney General Merrick Garland last week appointed a special prosecutor to investigate the case.

"We are cooperating fully and look forward to this matter being resolved quickly," Biden said.

Donald Trump, furious at what he believes to be differential treatment, demanded that "Joe Biden's many residences, even the White House" be raided by the FBI, as his Mar-a-Lago residence had been. in the month of August.
