In Nice, Christian Estrosi praises "a fruitful year in the fight against delinquency"

The mayor of Nice presented his wishes to the municipal police on Thursday evening. He took the opportunity to affirm his desire to seize the government about pensions, so that they can benefit from the same advantages as their colleagues in the national police.


Christian Estrosi, mayor of Nice and president of the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolis, presented Thursday evening at the Aston la Scala hotel, his wishes to the municipal police.

The city councilor took this opportunity to present the results of the actions carried out by the 550 agents during the past year.

In fact, municipal agents made 8,067 arrests in 2022 for criminal or misdemeanor offenses, i.e. 6% less compared to the previous year.

“A rather favorable trend because we find significant decreases in particular in the possession of weapons (-32%), violence against the police (-26%) or even public and manifest drunkenness (-30% )

,” he said.

5,289 offenses were also noted for damage to the living environment, particularly with regard to illegal dumping and noise pollution.

In addition, the municipality boasts of having carried out 55 operations to fight against squats which have made it possible to support 34 private owners in their efforts.

," noted the city's first magistrate, such as sexual abuse (16 more arrests than in 2021) or even with regard to relates to traffic offences.

he underlined.

This leads to an overall drop in crime of 7.2% between 2017 and 2021.

Christian Estrosi also recalled that several innovations had made it possible during the year to further strengthen the action of its police officers in the fight against delinquency and incivility.

The acquisition of new generation mobile cameras in autonomous format with solar panels in particular, but also the acquisition of artificial intelligence software to identify and verbalize vehicles parked on cycle paths.
