On January 21 and 22, aficionados of the little queen and the curious will be able to exchange advice and experiences in Vincennes within the framework of a dedicated festival.

Bike wanderer in your spare time?

Follower of the vélotaf, which consists of going to work by bike?

What if you started traveling by bike?

It is this practice that the Vincennes International Cycling Festival wishes to promote.

On January 21 and 22, 2023, the 36th edition of the event will bring together cycling enthusiasts and the curious around screenings, meetings, round tables and activities.

The objective: to convey the joys of cycling.

For Sylvie Dargnies, coordinator of the festival, the aim of the event is “

to inspire those who have not yet done so to dare to travel by bike, by showing routes and regions.

All this, thanks to a very diverse program.

Eleven screening sessions will be followed by discussions with travelers from all over France.

Great athletes looking for thrills or lovers of a change of scenery preferring long-term travel, they will retrace their adventures to the four corners of France and the globe.

Advice and practical information on equipment, how to go with the family, etc., will also be given during these two days.

Traveling by bike is something to be shared

 ,” insists Sylvie Dargnies.

Without forgetting the essential workshops of the festival, from the manufacture of bags to the use of a GPS, through the creation of the traditional travel diary step by step.

"

This year, we developed this aspect, because we saw that visitors particularly liked to get their hands dirty

 ," says Sylvie Dargnies.

In addition to the festival, an exhibition by Jeanne Lepoix, “Equipées sauvage”, showcases clichés on the theme of cycling.

This exhibition is open to everyone from January 4 to 23 on Place Pierre Sémard in Vincennes.

" At least 2,000 people

" are expected

 .

Among them, every year there are as many converts to cycling as there are curious people who have come to discover the practice.

And Isabelle Lancelot, from the Cyclo-Camping International association (which organizes the festival), assures her: “

There is no need for training or expensive equipment to start cycling!

Just start slow, don't chase speed and don't want to blow up the odometer.

Training just happens naturally

 .”

Aged about sixty, she will screen this weekend during the festival the film

Once upon a time in the West,

which tells of her family trip on the Nantes-Brest canal.

Traveling as a couple for several decades in complete autonomy (with equipment, tent and stove), she finds in this practice “

the happiness of freedom

 ”: “

Take the time, meet, reach out to others… Just as many things for which the cycling is a preferred mode of roaming.

For Isabelle Lancelot, it's all about adaptation.

"

These are more adjustments and, for me, the most important thing is to blend into the landscape, not to offend the sensitivity of those who live where we are going

" affirms the one who has been to all latitudes, to Latin America to Asia, including many European countries.

Its culture is so rich and complex that I think you can go there ten times and always discover new things.

Sylvie Dargnies assures us: “

The Covid has been particularly favorable to the explosion of bicycle roaming.

It is therefore only natural that he should be invited on our travels
