Surprise: a minister of Alberto Fernández returns, but as a candidate

2023-01-20T02:23:07.731Z

It's Elizabeth Gomez Alcorta. She was in charge of Women, Gender and Diversity. She now registers in the City.

Due to the profile that the owners wanted to give the space, it was assumed that the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity would be one of the particular signs of the management of Alberto Fernández.

The President put

Elizabeth Gómez Alcorta

there , known until then for her membership in CELS and, above all, for her role as defense attorney for Milagro Sala.

But the sparks between the two did not take long to appear.

Not two months had passed since the assumption of the Frente de Todos, when Gómez Alcorta perhaps

inaugurated a sport that would indeed be a registered trademark of the Government

: publicly exposing differences with Fernández without receiving major reprisals.

At the beginning of February 2020, the official

classified Milagro Sala as a "political prisoner

of the Gerardo Morales regime", discrediting the presidential word, which rejected that classification for any detainee in the country.

The official only suffered some reproach through the media.

Also entangled in controversies with the opposition -they accused her of carrying out partisan feminist management- Gómez Alcorta had

another moment of tension

, when, after the defeat in the PASO of 2021, Juan Manzur from Tucumán joined as coordinator of ministers.

The governor arrived with complaints for having allegedly prevented legal abortions in his province.

One of the accusers had been Gómez Alcorta herself.

Despite the obvious conflict of interest, the official decided to stay in office.

With the supposed boss victimizer

.

Until another controversial case ended with the presentation of his

"indeclinable resignation"

.

It was in October of last year, after an eviction of Mapuches in Villa Mascardi.

"Personally, I feel that with this fact a limit has been crossed, which is why I must step aside," he argued, speaking of "serious violations of human rights."

He also expressed it in a harsh letter to the President.

Back, but in a list

After a few months on the plain,

Gómez Alcorta is now preparing to return

.

How would he work?

No,

as a candidate

in a district where, curiously, the Frente de Todos does not find leaders who are convinced that they are headed for certain defeat:

the City of Buenos Aires

.

Gómez Alcorta's idea was to do a

pre

-launch before the end of the year, but the effervescence of the World Cup plus a camp to demand the freedom of Milagro Sala postponed the presentation.

Now the plan is to finalize it in mid-February.

Who supports her?

Some small forces in the district (Communist Party, for example) and leaders of social and union organizations such as Daniel Catalano (ATE Capital), Roberto Pianelli (metrodelegate) or Rafael Klejzer, the piquetero who said he would go out on his own to control prices.

The former minister has already conveyed that she is aware that

her chances of winning are nil

, but, with the Frente de Todos in a state of boiling (and decomposition?), she is looking for

a post-2023 horizon

and raises her hand to sign up for the internal Buenos Aires .

So far, this bid only seems

a matter of men and not very convinced

.

As Clarín

recounted

, the anti-Kirchnerism revitalized in the City by the poor management of the national government scares away potential candidates.

Tourism Minister

Matías Lammens

 warned that he prefers to concentrate on finishing his term;

in a few months he will see.

Deputy

Leandro Santoro

, perhaps the most active, also doubts going to a race with the risk of coming out third.

And senator

Mariano Recalde

, head of the Buenos Aires PJ, is today busier in his role as lawyer and parliamentarian, defending Cristina Kirchner.
