,

Rafael Bielsa

, was summoned by the foreign ministry of the trans-Andean country based on

his reproaches in the Chilean Senate

for Chile's cancellation of a multimillion-dollar mining project that was going to benefit Argentina, where he also complained about the treatment of the Malvinas issue, Cristina Kirchner and the Continental Shelf.

Visibly upset, Bielsa told the press that he was not going to make statements and entered the Foreign Ministry where he met Chilean Foreign Minister

Antonia Urrejola

.

Invited by the Foreign Relations Committee of the Chilean Senate, Bielsa had complained about the cancellation of the La Dominga mining project: "This venture was one of the alternatives that Agua Negra was going to have as a port. It would be great for us if they let us know, nothing more than that. Since it has an impact on bilateral relations, we wanted you to be informed."

According to the local press, Bielsa also referred to Malvinas.

"If a newspaper says Falklands to the Malvinas, I will let them know. That is a wound for all of Argentina," said the Argentine ambassador in reference to the request that they change the word Falklands.

In addition, he mentioned the mistreatment towards the Argentine governments and especially Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

"When the different Argentine governments are disrespected, which is a very visible phenomenon in the press, more than in political actors, I cannot let it go. I cannot let the vice president be called 'chorra' from my country".

Before the Chilean Senate, Bielsa recalled a dinner with former Chilean Foreign Minister Andrés Allamand and criticized Chile for its claim to the Continental Shelf.

“One Wednesday he came to dinner at the residence.

Two days later I found out from the newspaper about the extension of the platform in Chile," recalled Bielsa.

"So I think to myself first 'Couldn't you tell me two days ago?' What could I have done? I should have done it: call the president and tell him, '

Look, that's going to happen

,'" Bielsa questioned.

And before the senators, he remarked that “Chile was with us, we physically shared material with Chile, was it necessary to snub us and leave us as idiots with this attitude?

So I naturally made my claim."

The crossing occurs a couple of days before the Celac meeting in Buenos Aires, where Chilean President Gabriel Boric will attend.

In the Chilean government they consider that it is not appropriate to have questioned a decision that is autonomous from the Chilean institutionality.

Before the summons to Bielsa, the Chilean foreign minister spoke with her Argentine counterpart,

Santiago Cafiero

.

The trans-Andean press remarked that the Minister of Foreign Relations made Cafiero see "the seriousness of the statements."

"

It is not acceptable that he affords himself the luxury of caricaturing a decision by President Boric's administration

, which involved a commission of State ministers in a complex political situation", they maintain in the Chilean government that Antonia Urrejola said,

Gabriel Boric rejected a multi-million dollar mining project

The Government of Chile rejected on Wednesday the controversial Dominga megaproject for the extraction of iron and copper concentrate, which has been valued at 2,500 million dollars and which threatens the survival of a unique natural reserve in the world.

Unanimously, this Committee of Ministers decided to accept the 12 claims and, therefore, the Dominga port mining project is left with an unfavorable evaluation," announced the Minister of the Environment, Maisa Rojas.

Rojas, who presided over this special instance also made up of the heads of Health, Mining, Agriculture, Energy and the Economy, assured that the decision is "robust, traceable and based on technical evidence" and that the claims have to do with "marine life". , "water pollution" and "air quality", among others.

The controversial project of the Andes Iron company, which includes a mine and a port, is located 16 kilometers from the commune of La Higuera, in the northern region of Coquimbo, and near the Humboldt Archipelago, which protects one of the most important in the world and where 80% of this species of penguins lives.

"The port we are talking about is located in a place that has an ecological value that is absolutely unique (...) there are deep water outcrops with nutrients, which are the basis for a whole chain of life that is very unique," explained the minister.

Both Rojas and Chilean President Gabriel Boric had always been against the project, even before taking office a year ago.

Although the rejection by the ministerial instance is a new setback for the project, which has been trying to obtain permits for a decade, the company can appeal the decision in court.

Those who defend the project assure that it will bring growth and economic development to La Higuera, one of the poorest communes in Chile, located 500 kilometers north of Santiago.
