Going through the mountains with a backpack with all the essentials is a great experience.

In addition to enjoying beautiful views and taking the best photos, doing so has great benefits for your physical and mental health.

The summer season that is already underway is a good opportunity to feel nature under our feet and explore the great network of trails that the country offers in various destinations.

In order to get to know them, on the Natural Route website there is an Adventure Tourism section where you can review the main destinations for trekking and hiking in Argentina, as well as other activities on land, air and water.

In each case, it is very important to consult the section with the useful links to find out who the authorized providers of all the activities are and take into account the essential precautions to enjoy a safe experience.

Next, we present the most outstanding places to do Trekking this summer:

1) Tierra Mayor Valley Nature and Landscape Reserve, Tierra del Fuego

A great place for hiking through valleys, mountains and peat bogs.

Among the most outstanding and of medium difficulty are the Sendero Laguna Esmeralda (one of the most beautiful and visited hikes at the End of the World), the Sendero Laguna Turquesa (travels an old trace of loggers and leads to another incredible lagoon on the Sierra Sorondo) and the Path to the Beban Waterfall (it plunges into a lenga forest and large peat bogs, until it reaches a high mountain environment).

Fuegian landscapes combine peat bogs, sea and forest.

2) Perito Moreno National Park, Santa Cruz

A solitary and little-explored place in Patagonia, and one of the most rugged in Argentina with turquoise, emerald and gray lakes linked by mighty rivers.

It has three large sectors for walking: the South (with short trails around the beautiful Burmeister Lake), the Central (which allows you to explore the great Belgrano peninsula with the possibility of sleeping in three shelters located in bays with views of the turquoise waters of the Belgrano Lake) and the North (with two trails of high difficulty, one that reaches the Valle del Río Lácteo and the other to the Laguna de los Témpanos).

3) Nahuel Huapi National Park, Río Negro and Neuquén

The oldest in the country, with 700 thousand hectares distributed between the two provinces.

It invites you to discover lakes, rivers and waterfalls through a large network of trails of different levels of difficulty and duration.

On the Neuquén side there are ideal trails to enjoy during the day.

On the side of Río Negro there are the largest number of trails with the particularity that they have shelters to live the experience of walking, dining and sleeping in the mountains.

4) Yungas of Tucumán, Tucumán

Recommended to cross the jungle and deep green valleys between hills, rivers and waterfalls, places where native peoples lived.

There are trails of different levels of difficulty and duration in parks and nature reserves.

In the Aguas Chiquitas Natural Reserve, you can take a medium-difficulty route that reaches a 55-meter-high waterfall.

In the San Pablo Natural Reserve it is possible to enter the mountain jungle and reach another waterfall.

5) Cerro Champaquí, Córdoba

The highest peak in Córdoba is a great challenge for lovers of trekking, and for those who are taking their first steps in mountaineering.

The ascent can be faced from different places, each with a different proposal.

From the Calamuchita Valley: Villa Alpina (about 40 kilometers from Villa General Belgrano, a three-day excursion), Puesto Tres Árboles (an ascent that can be done in two days and begins at 2,250 masl), Los Linderos (30 kilometers from Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, in Villa Yacanto, you can go up a vehicular road to the Linderos hill and then walk 45 minutes to the top) and La Cumbrecita (path for a more gradual climb than the other options).

From the Valley of Traslasierras: San Javier (ascent in the day, only with an authorized guide and authorization because it crosses a private property), Los Molles (30 kilometers from Mina Clavero, beginning of a path that has an extremely steep slope) and Los Hornillos (about 15 kilometers south of Nono, a demanding three-day journey).

The Champaquí hill, a great challenge for beginners and trekking lovers.

The Natural Route is the first comprehensive program for the development and promotion of nature tourism, created by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, to consolidate Argentina as a world-class destination, promoting the culture of nature tourism for tourists residents and foreigners and accompanying the development of territories and communities to guarantee responsible tourism.
