An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale hit the Molucca Sea in Indonesia today.
Xinhua quoted the US Geological Survey as saying that the tremor occurred at a depth of 23 kilometers, and the epicenter was located at 2.8019 degrees north latitude and 117.0115 degrees east longitude.
There were no reports of injuries or material losses, and no tsunami warnings were issued.
The Molucca Sea is located on the Southeast Asian Ring of Fire around the perimeter of Indonesia and the western Pacific Ocean, an area where earthquakes and volcanoes are active.
