Actor and producer Alec Baldwin isn't the only celebrity to face criminal charges related to a death in a tragedy.

  • Why the Santa Fe Prosecutor's Office decided to charge Alec Baldwin "with involuntary manslaughter" for the shooting of "Rust"

Prosecutors in Santa Fe, New Mexico, will charge Baldwin and a weapons specialist with two counts of manslaughter in the 2021 shooting that claimed the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film "Rust."

Hutchins was struck by a round of live ammunition that was fired from a prop gun Baldwin was holding at the time while they were rehearsing a scene from the film.

Baldwin, who has maintained that he did not know the gun he fired had a live bullet, called the prosecutors' decision a "terrible judicial error," according to his lawyer, Luke Nikas, who has vowed to contest the charges.

Jason Bowles, attorney for the film's weapons specialist Hannah Gutierrez Reed, said a jury will find his client not guilty because "she has not committed any crime."

According to

The New York Post

, Broderick, who was left unconscious and seriously injured in the crash, was facing five years in prison on the careless driving charge.

They found him guilty of that charge and fined him $175.

“The car accident in Ireland was, I would say, one of the top three traumas in my life, maybe the first one,” Gray told “Entertainment Tonight” during an interview last spring.

“It is very difficult to describe a near-death experience and to be present at other people's deaths,” he said.

"Being alone on a country road in the middle of nowhere, with no one else around or aware, was pretty scary... It led to so many other things in my life," she added.

“It was an accident,” Gray added.

“And [Broderick] was a great driver, and no one had been drinking.

It was just an accident.

And it was tragic, ”he completed.
