Authorities in Burkina Faso announced today that dozens of girls and women who were kidnapped earlier this month have been freed.
Local media reported that the army, during its implementation of a military operation, managed to liberate 62 women and four children who were kidnapped by unknown gunmen on January 12 and 13, outside two villages in the Arbinda region of the Somme region in the Sahel region in the north of the country while they were walking in the bushes in search of fruits and tree leaves. .
Since 2015, Burkina Faso has witnessed insecurity and repeated terrorist attacks, which have resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries and the displacement of about two million people from their homes.
