Hama-Sana

The area of land cultivated with fodder and pastoral crops in the lands under the supervision of the General Authority for Forest Management and Development in Hama Governorate amounted to 2,510 hectares out of the total plan for the current season, which amounts to 3,780 hectares.

The Director of Plant Wealth in the authority, Eng. Wafiq Zarrouf, told SANA reporter that 2,436 hectares were cultivated with fodder crops in irrigated lands, compared to 69 hectares in rain-fed lands, concentrated in the villages and towns of Jub Ramla, Shatha and Karnaz.

He pointed out that these crops, the most important of which are galbanum, wild oats and fodder wheat, are receiving increasing demand from farmers in the region, due to the low costs of their production requirements compared to other crops, and the availability of a suitable environment for their cultivation, with the increase in their purchase by livestock breeders after the high cost of other types of fodder.
