A former adviser to President Félix Tshisekedi arrested was transferred Friday to Makala prison, after six hours of hearing at the general prosecutor's office in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, indicated the Congolese News Agency (ACP).

"

Fortunat Biselele, influential ex-private adviser to President Félix Tshisekedi was transferred on Friday night to the central prison of Makala (Kinshasa's large prison)

", after six hours of hearing at the prosecution, indicated the PCA.

At the beginning of the evening, this press agency had announced the arrival of Fortunat Biselele at the prosecutor's office: "

The influential former private adviser to the Head of State, Fortunat Biselele (was) taken under good escort to the prosecution

" .

In two videos published by this source, we see him, escorted by armed soldiers, climbing the steps of the courthouse where the general prosecutor's office of Kinshasa-Gombe is located.

"Collusion" with the power of Kigali

A large police presence was visible at the entrance to the prosecution, noted an AFP journalist.

Fortunat Biselele had been removed from the presidential cabinet on January 14, then detained in secret.

The official reasons that led to his arrest and detention were not yet known.

But in an article published on Friday, the Africa Intelligence newsletter claimed that Fortunat Biselele “

is suspected of collusion with the Rwandan power of Paul Kagame

”.

The former "

private

" adviser to the Congolese president had tried to "

bring Kinshasa closer to Kigali at the start of Tshisekedi's mandate

", according to this media.

Relations between the DRC and Rwanda are now appalling due to the resurgence of the March 23 Movement (M23), a majority Tutsi rebellion defeated in 2013, which took up arms again at the end of 2021. The DRC accuses Rwanda of supporting the rebels and to fight with them.

Kigali denies, The European Union calls on Rwanda to "stop supporting the M23" in the DRC, which has been established in eastern DRC since the 1994 Tutsi genocide in Rwanda.

In an attempt to calm the situation, several diplomatic initiatives have been launched, notably by the Community of East African States (EAC) and Angola.

On Thursday, Kigali accused the DRC of seeking to "

exit

" the peace processes initiated in Luanda as well as in Nairobi within the framework of the EAC.
