Thousands of French people demonstrated in Paris today to protest against French President Emmanuel Macron's project to amend the pension system.
According to Agence France-Presse, thousands of people responded to the call of French organizations and parties to protest the project, noting that a procession of people of all ages demonstrated between the Place de la Bastille and the nation.
Participants chanted slogans such as “resistance,” “we are here even if Macron does not want it,” “down with capitalism,” and “we will fight to the end.”
Macron's project, especially the clause raising the retirement age from 62 to 64 years, faces opposition from French trade union fronts, and it has also been rejected by public opinion, according to polls.
