Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called the war against the Nazis in Ukraine and Europe a new patriotic war.
The Novosti agency quoted Medvedev as saying on the Telegram channel, in response to the words of the European Union Commissioner for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell:
“Borrell remembered that our country defeated Napoleon and Hitler, and he spoke of the similarity between them, and accordingly the Ukronazians and Western Europeans are the direct heirs of those who fought against Russia, and therefore the war with them is a new national war, and the victory will be ours as in the years 1812 and 1945.”
And Borrell said yesterday while speaking at the awards ceremony of the New Economic Forum in Madrid: “Russia is used to fighting to the end, and you should not think that its army is incompetent,” adding: “I did it with Napoleon and I did it with Hitler, and it would be absurd to think that Russia lost the war in Ukraine,” and called for continued military support for Kiev.
