Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, representing First Lady Asma al-Assad, discussed with Mrs. Dr. Jamila Sadat Alam al-Huda, wife of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Tehran today, bilateral relations and issues related to women, their values, rights, identity, and ways to enhance their pioneering role in building society. Shaaban pointed to the importance of joint cooperation in the field of women's issues at the national and regional levels through cooperation mechanisms and targeted work programmes, noting the first international conference of active women, which concluded yesterday in Tehran, and which dealt with women's affairs in all its aspects, declaring Syria's support for the establishment of the International Federation of Influential Women. She said: Our participation with a high-level delegation of Syrian women in this conference reflects the extent of the First Lady Asma al-Assad's interest in women's issues and the strategic Syrian-Iranian relations.

Shaaban drew attention to the interest of the Syrian state, President Bashar al-Assad and First Lady Asma al-Assad in the issue of women and their participation in all aspects of public political, economic, social, cultural and developmental life and national plans in this field, noting the steadfastness of Syrian women and their successes in various fields.

Shaaban stressed the importance of working to empower and support women in all fields, especially women who are breadwinners for their families and the families of martyrs, and the need to overcome obstacles that impede building a healthy family, referring to the Western cultural attack and its danger to society and women and the need to confront it by protecting and supporting women and enhancing their skills through the establishment of small and medium business projects and cultural platforms And a joint educational program that facilitates the work and marketing of Syrian and Iranian women’s products by exchanging experiences, ideas and visions, and benefiting from the available capabilities, in light of the unjust economic blockade that affects all societal groups.

For her part, Dr. Alam Al-Huda commended the Syrian participation in a high-level delegation of active women in the first international conference of active women in Tehran, and said: joint action must be made and efforts must be doubled to protect and support women through well-studied work mechanisms that contribute to improving their level of performance at various levels and fields.

Alam Al-Huda stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation in the field of women and their support by providing facilities and providing them with opportunities to exercise their right and role in society, through the creation of private associations and companies, and exempting women's products from customs taxes.

Alam Al-Huda indicated the importance of exchanging visits by university professors and experiences, participating in festivals, and promoting tourism to see the civilization of the two countries, pointing to the importance of establishing a general secretariat for the conference and working diligently to advance women's affairs, calling for the participation of Syrian women in sports activities that are held in Iran to enhance communication between Syrian women. And Iranian women.

Alam Al-Huda drew attention to the importance of caring for the affairs of the martyrs, honoring their families, and working to support them.

For his part, the Syrian Ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Dayoub, who attended the meeting with the delegation accompanying Dr. Shaaban, praised the importance of the conference in defending women and their rights and the active Syrian participation in it, which confirms the depth of the strategic relationship between the two countries, and the keenness to make such conferences a success.

Diop expressed full readiness for the full cooperation of the embassy for the success of joint cooperation initiatives in all fields, especially women's fields, pointing to the importance of mutual tourism and increasing the number of tourists, and working to overcome difficulties in this regard.

Diop pointed out that there is a reduction in customs duties to 4 percent in the field of free trade in order to facilitate the flow of goods between the two countries.
